New Moon

Greetings and blessings.

On Jan. 15 at 7:12am in Greenwich Mean Time -- and thus at 11:12pm on Jan. 14 on the West Coast of the USA, and 9:12pm in Hawaii -- a spectacular Capricorn Dark Moon and annular eclipse highlights a set of astral dynamics that make this the most powerful January New Moon in many years, and a time for intentional ceremony aimed at our individual aims, and the kind of healthy, peaceful and abundant planet we seek to create.

Why is this Dark Moon so highly charged? For one thing, the Sun-Moon combination joins with Venus and the North Moon's Node to form a quadruple conjunction in Capricorn. This set of planets aligned in this way is exceedingly favorable for celebrations, lively gatherings, and opportunities to create and experience love and beauty.

For another thing, retrograde Mercury is in conjunction with Pluto at the exact moment of the Dark Moon-eclipse alignment, then "goes direct" a few hours later, thus dispelling the confusion and misdirection of recent weeks, and resetting communications and organizational matters toward a quick and happy realization of new outcomes.

For yet another, this is a very rare synchronicity of the sidereal New Year not only with a Dark Moon at the beginning of a new lunar cycle, but with an eclipse too. And, as if all this weren't enough, this lunation is nearly at perigee, as the second of three consecutive Dark Moons that are also Super Moons

As we saw in the Universal Festival Calendar Prelude for December -- the Super Moons coming at the Dark Moons this winter are excellent for ceremonies of intention, whether we do them as individuals and in small groups, or in larger intentional communities.
